← All guidesFlorida beyond the parks: Cocoa Beach, Tampa Bay, and a Miami bookend

How Orlando locals actually add sand and city without blowing the park schedule.
Theme parks are why most visitors land in Orlando — but a trip that never leaves International Drive feels unfinished. A beach day resets kids and adults alike after humid park mornings.
Cocoa Beach is the classic east-coast add-on: roughly an hour by car and an easy full-day plan. Tampa Bay works if you want a waterfront city evening.
Miami is a bigger swing — better as a trip bookend (MIA/MCO) than a same-day dash. We usually aim for mornings on the sand and evenings off Ocean Drive.
Tell us your park days first. We’ll fit one recovery block where it hurts least — not where a brochure wants to upsell another ticket.
